The Southern Oregon men shot 63 percent in the second half en route to a 95-81 victory over Willamette tonight in the final game of the Flagship Inn Invitational.
Oregon Tech knocked off William Jessup 72-51 in the first game tonight. Both SOU and OIT went 2-0 in the Invitational.
Southern Oregon (7-1) was led by
Humphrey Jackson (Redwood City, Calif./Woodside)'s 19 points and
Chris Mackovjak (Eugene, Ore./Churchill)'s 18 off the bench.
Willamette (1-3) received 18 points from Marcus Holmes.
The Raiders led 42-35 at the half after holding the Bearcats to 29 percent shooting from the field.
In the second half, SOU's offense took over - mostly with layups.
Mackovjak gave the Raiders a 69-57 lead with a layup at the 9:48 mark.
Justonn Smith (Redwood City, Calif./Woodside) added a 3-pointer and a layup to push it to 77-62 with 7:44 to play and the Raiders never looked back.
Joe White (Springfield, Ore./Thurston) pushed the advantage to 23 at 87-64 with a 3-pointer with 5:14 to play for SOU's biggest lead.
Smith added 13 points for SOU, while
Roland Johnson (Yuba City, Calif./Yuba) had 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocks and
Ryan Staker (Las Vegas, Nevada/Centennial) had 11 points and six rebounds.
SOU opens up Cascade Conference play next Friday against Concordia.
