The Southern Oregon black team scored four falls as they came away with a 45-20 victory over the red team tonight in the annual Red and Black Intrasquad dual.

“Nice to see some of the younger guys get a chance to compete under the lamp,” SOU head coach Mike Ritchey said. “We have a really tough room this year and I think some of that showed in the close matches. There will be some interesting challenge matches this year.”

The black team came away with four straight victories to start the dual, including back-to-back pins by top-ranked 125-pounder Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) and Miguel Baltazar (Culver, Ore./Culver).

After the red team made it competitive with four straight wins, Tommie Hooper (Burns, Ore./Burns) ended the run with a 15-0 tech fall.

Tyler Thomas (Salem, Ore./McKay) added a 10-2 major decision at 174 and Josh Stalcup (Estacada, Ore./Estacada) had a pin in another matchup at 174.

Shaun Ceremello (Clovis, Calif./Clovis) had the fourth pin, also at 174.

SOU will compete in the Pacific Open Sunday in Forest Grove.
