Ashland, Oregon (Dec. 30, 2009) -- Ben Voogd and Kellen Spicer combined for 35 points to lead Northwest Christian to a 66-64 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at McNeal Pavilion.
Northwest Christian improved to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon dropped to 8-7 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Raiders host Corban tomorrow night.

Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) led all scorers with 23 points, while
Ryan Staker (Las Vegas, Nevada/Centennial) finished with 11.
Voogd led the Beacons with 19 points before fouling out. Spicer had 16 points.
Northwest Christian hit on 6 of 10 3-pointers in the first half and led 36-28. But Southern Oregon got hot in the second half to make it a game.
A Staker layup gave SOU the lead at 48-47 and the two teams battled it out for the final 10 minutes with neither team leading by more than four points.
Justonn Smith (Redwood City, Calif./Woodside) cut the NCU lead to 66-64 with 29 seconds to play and the Raiders had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer after the two teams combined for three turnovers in a 20 seconds span.
But Childs' runner along the baseline went long, giving the Beacons the victory.
