Laney Sets Meet Mark In 10,000

Southern Oregon's David Laney (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) set a new Cascade Conference Championship record with his victory Thursday night in the 10,000 during Day One of the Conference Championships at Mt. Hood Community College.

Laney ran the race in 31:18.95, which also ranks fourth in SOU history.

Kristen Juveland (Central Point, Ore./Crater) finished fifth in the women's 10,000 in a time of 40:54.89.

In the first day of the heptathlon, SOU's Rosie Converse (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) sits in second place with 3,338 points. College of Idaho's Emily McCutchan leads the event with 3,670 points. Converse's day with highlighted by winning the high jump with a jump of 4:11.75.

In the decathlon, Alex Waroff (Rogue River, Ore./Rogue River) sits in fourth place with 5,745 points.

Day Two of the championships gets underway at 4 p.m. Friday.
