Fresh off splitting a pair of games last weekend, the Southern Oregon men hit the road this weekend for a pair of Cascade Conference matchups.
The Raiders take on Corban College on Friday followed by Northwest Christian on Saturday with both games set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
This past weekend saw Southern Oregon split their home games against College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. The Raiders scored their second conference victory with a 71-70 victory over College of Idaho.
The win over College of Idaho marks just the second time head coach
Brian McDermott's team has won this conference campaign and the Raiders will be hoping to add to that win column this weekend with just seven games remaining in the season.
“With both games on the road it's going to be tough,” said McDermott. “We're up against two completely different teams, with one that is real offensive and the other just tries to beat you to death.”
Regardless of how much offensive their opponents throw at them, Southern Oregon will be looking to inflict some damage of their own with senior center
Ryan Staker (Las Vegas, Nevada/Centennial) most likely to be right in the thick of it.
Staker was solid for the Raiders this past weekend, turning up big in the win over College of Idaho – finishing with a season-best 21 points, including numerous dunks.
Staker has averaged 12 points a game so far this season for the Southern Oregon.
Teammate
Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) leads the Raiders with 13 points while
Justonn Smith (Redwood City, Calif./Woodside) has 11 points followed by
Humphrey Jackson (Redwood City, Calif./Woodside) racking up 10.
The Raiders split their first matchups with Corban and Northwest Christian, defeating the Warriors 87-76 and dropping a 66-64 decision to Corban.
After this weekend's games, SOU will return to McNeal Pavilion next weekend to wrap up conference action.
