Eagles Put Away Raiders Late

Northwest used a late second half run to put away the Southern Oregon men en route to a 76-62 victory tonight in Kirkland, Wash.

Northwest improved to 10-7 overall and 5-2 in Cascade Conference action. Southern Oregon dropped to 9-8 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The Raiders host arch-rival Oregon Tech next Saturday night.

Tyson Christie led five Eagles in double-digit scoring with 18 points.

Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) came off the bench to lead the Raiders with 14 points.

Despite shooting just 27 percent in the first half, the Raiders trailed just 28-26 at the half. In the second half, the Eagles turned it on by shooting 56 percent.

SOU's Joe White (Springfield, Ore./Thurston) nailed a 3-pointer to cut the Northwest lead to 49-45 with 10:42 to play, but the Eagles started to pull away and had their biggest lead at 55-45 on a Greg Peters rebound and putback. A pair of SOU technical fouls turned into four straight made free throws by Blake Solomon and a 61-47 Northwest advantage as they put the game away.

Ryan Staker (Las Vegas, Nevada/Centennial) had a team-high 11 rebounds for the Raiders.
