12/2/2010 12:24:53 PM

Off to a 6-2 start to the season, the Southern Oregon men open up Cascade Conference action this weekend on the road.

The Raiders travel to Concordia (4-4) Friday night and Warner Pacific (5-3) Saturday night. Because of new Cascade Conference rules that will alternate the start time of the men's and women's basketball games, the men's games will start at 5:30 p.m. for the first half of the season.

Southern Oregon had won five games in a row before dropping a 57-56 decision to NAIA Division I Fresno Pacific.

As a team, the Raiders rank fourth in the NAIA in free throw percentage at .773, seventh in field goal percentage defense at .349 and tied for ninth in 3-point field goal percentage defense at .407.

Freshman Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) and junior Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) have carried the load for the Raiders during the preseason.

Tedder leads the team in scoring (14.1) and steals (20) and is hitting on nearly 42 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Highland is averaging 13.9 points and ranks second on the team in rebounding at 5.1 per game. Highland is also shooting almost 52 percent from the field.

Concordia is led by Jourdan Sweeney's 16.3 points per game and Gage Aker's 5.1 assists.

Warner Pacific ranks second in the conference in rebounding margin at +10.6 and Biniam Tadele averages a team-best 15.3 points per game.
