Late Comeback Sinks Raiders

Jordan Carter's free throw's with over two minutes to play proved to be the game-winner as Corban scored a come-from-behind 75-74 victory over the Southern Oregon men tonight in Salem.
 
Corban improved to 11-6 overall and 1-4 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon dropped to 9-6 overall and 3-3 in conference. The Raiders host Simpson in a non-conference matchup Monday night at 7:30.
 
Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) led all scorers with 17 points. Kellen Hawley (Cordova, Alaska/Cordova) scored 10 points in the first half and finished with 14 for the Raiders to go along with eight rebounds. Dex Daum (Fallon, Nev./Churchill) came off the bench for 13 points.
 
Carter and Erik Cronrath both had 16 points for the Warriors.
 
Hawley got the Raiders off to a fast start, scoring six of SOU's first 13 points for an early 13-6 advantage. A 3-pointer by Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) and then a steal by Daum and Hawley jumper put the Raider advantage into double-digits at 34-23 with 7:14 to play in the first half.
 
The Raiders carried the momentum to a 45-36 halftime lead after coming out of gates hot for the second straight game. SOU hit on 18 of 34 shots (53 percent) over the first 20 minutes, including a 7-for-13 effort from the 3-point line.
 
In the second half, Corban slowly began chipping away at the SOU lead and finally take the lead at the seven minute mark 65-64.
 
The two teams battled back-and-forth before Corban took control, leading up to Carter's free throws for a 75-71 lead. A 3-pointer by Highland cut the lead to one, but that's as close as they could get.
