Southern Oregon head coach
Brian McDermott notched his 200th win in charge of the SOU men tonight as the Raiders cruised to a 77-46 victory over Warner Pacific in Portland.
Southern Oregon improved to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in Cascade Conference play. The Raiders return to non-conference play next weekend as they travel to William Jessup. Warner Pacific fell to 5-5 overall and 0-2 in conference action.
McDermott's 200 wins trails just Ted Schopf's 230 wins for most in school history.
For the second-straight night,
Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) and
Dex Daum (Fallon, Nev./Churchill) put up big numbers for the Raiders. Highland went for 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting, including a 2-for-2 effort from the 3-point line. Daum had 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting and went 3-for-4 from 3-point land.
Kellen Hawley (Cordova, Alaska/Cordova) had 14 points and nine rebounds and
Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) had 10 points.
Biniam Tadele was the lone Knight in double-digits with 11 points.
With the score tied a 4-4 early, the Raiders just exploded - starting with a 3-pointer by Highland. A 3-pointer by Daum put an end to an 18 minute 47-17 run by the Raiders.
The Raiders kept it up in the second half as a pair of free throws by Tedder gave SOU its biggest lead of the game at 66-31 with 10:53 to play.
Southern Oregon finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field, 45 percent from the 3-point stripe and 73 percent from the free throw line.
