Humphrey Jackson (Redwood City, Calif./Woodside) sent the Southern Oregon men's basketball team out with a win tonight with a late 3-pointer to lift the Raiders to a 78-75 victory over Concordia in Portland.
SOU finishes the season 12-15 overall and 4-14 in Cascade Conference play. Concordia finishes 15-14 overall and 5-13 in conference.
Jackson finished with 22 points to lead the Raiders. Senior
Ryan Staker (Las Vegas, Nevada/Centennial) had 17 points and 11 rebounds, while
Jarrad Childs (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) finished with 15 points.
Greg McFarland led the Cavs with 15 points.
After the two teams were tied at 70-70, it looked like Concordia had taken back control of the game. The Cavs moved out to a 75-70 lead with 2:30 to play in the game.
Unfortunately for Concordia, that was the last time they would score.
A free throw by Staker and then a jumper by Childs cut the lead to 75-73 with 1:45 to play.
Concordia would miss a pair of shots and the Raiders would miss one as well over the next minute before Jackson stepped up.
The senior knocked down his sixth 3-pointer of the night with 39 seconds left to give the Raiders the lead for good at 76-75.
Childs added a pair of free throws down the stretch and Concordia missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Raiders the season-ending victory.
