Southern Oregon's
Zach Elliott (Central Point, Ore./Crater) won the 10,000 and the Raiders scored 34 points in the event during Day One of the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships tonight at Mt. Hood Community College.
Elliott won the event with a time of 31:33.95, which is an NAIA Automatic Qualifying time.
Andrew Milne (Redding, Calif./Redding Adventist Academy) and
Josh Seitz (Forest Grove, Ore./Forest Grove) also earned Automatic times. Milne finished third with a time of 31:36.62 and Seitz finished fourth with a time of 31:39.29. Elliott and Milne earned All-Conference honors with their finishes.
Hector Aleman (Seaside, Calif./Seaside) finished seventh with time Provisional time of 31:59.56 and
Jerrod Puckett (Central Point, Ore./Crater) finished eighth in a time of 32:26.30.
Junior
Kristen Juveland (Central Point, Ore./Crater) earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish in the 10,000 with a time of 38:25.84. Teammate
Laurie Stoutenburg (Central Point, Ore./Crater) finished fourth with a time of 38:49.06.
Senior
Rosie Converse (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) sits in third place in the heptathlon with 2,543 points. College of Idaho's Emily McCutchan leads the event with 2,745 points. Converse's day was highlighted with a winning effort in the high jump of 5-01.
In the women's discus,
Holly Haga (Central Point, Ore. /Crater) finished fourth with a throw of 132-07 and teammate Katie Higgins finished seventh with a throw of 117-03.
The Championships continue through Saturday afternoon.
