The Southern Oregon men fell behind in the first half and never could recover as eighth-ranked Oregon Tech scored an 80-54 victory over the Raiders tonight in Klamath Falls.
Oregon Tech improved to 18-2 overall and 9-0 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 12-7 overall and 5-4 in conference. Southern Oregon travels to College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon next weekend.
Bryant Sentman led Oregon Tech with 17 points, while Joseph Foster had 13 points.
Austin Wolfer (Woodburn, Ore./Woodburn) and
Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) both had 15 points for the Raiders. Wolfer had seven rebounds and Highland had six rebounds.
The Raiders and Owls traded baskets early in the game, with the score tied at 10-10 before the Owls took off and the Raiders had a hard time buying a basket.
A 3-pointer by Foster helped the Owls to a 24-14 lead and they kept cruising after that in the first half and led 40-21 at the half.
SOU tried to keep it close in the second half, cutting the lead to 12 on a jumper by Highland to trim the advantage to 40-28 and free throw's by Wolfer kept it at 12 at 42-30.
The Owls went on another run to push the lead to 20 at 52-32 with 13:37 to play, but back came the Raiders one more time, cutting the lead to 10 with a jumper by Highland to get within 52-42 with 9:52 to play.
But that would be it for the Raiders.
SOU shot 37 percent from the field for the game and made just 1 of 14 from the 3-point line.
