Eleventh-ranked Eastern Oregon put together a pair of impressive first half runs and cruised to a 95-53 victory over the Southern Oregon men tonight in La Grande.
Eastern improved to 16-3 overall and 8-2 in Cascade Conference play. Southern fell to 12-8 overall and 5-3 in conference. The Raiders host Corban next Friday.
Austin Wolfer (Woodburn, Ore./Woodburn) led the Raiders with 14 points to go with five rebounds.
Jamar Johnson had 30 points for the Mountaineers on 10-for-11 shooting, including a 4-for-4 effort from the 3-point line.
The Raiders came out of the gate with a quick 4-0 lead. Eastern then scored the next 15 points to go up 15-4.
Wolfer hit a jumper for the Raiders to make it 15-6, but the Mountaineers went on another run - scoring the next 16 points to make it 31-6 with 8:59 to play in the first half.
Eastern led 54-19 at the half, shooting 55 percent from the field and 57 percent (8-for-14) from 3-point land. The Raiders went 8-for-33 from the floor (24 percent), 3-for-9 from the free throw line (33 percent) and 0-for-8 from the 3-point line.
