The Northwest Christian men hit on 61 percent of their shots in the second half and scored a 71-63 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

Northwest Christian improved to 8-17 overall and 2-11 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon fell to 13-10 overall and 6-7 in league action. The Raiders travel to Northwest next Friday.

Kellen Spicer led the Beacons with 19 points.

Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) led the Raiders with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) added 16 points and four 3-pointers.

The two teams struggled offensively in the first half as the Beacons held a 30-29 halftime lead.

The Raiders came out with five straight points by Highland, a 3-pointer and dunk on an inbounds play to take a 34-30 advantage.

A 3-pointer by Tedder kept the SOU lead at four at 43-39 with 11:12 to play, but the lead started to slowly slip away.

Free throws by Brent McKee gave the Beacons a 50-45 lead and 3-pointers by Jordan Myers and Quentin Guidry had the Beacons up 56-49 and rolling.

The Raiders got to within five at 68-63 on a 3-pointer by Tedder with 32 seconds to play, but that's as close as the hosts would get.
