LEWISTON, Idaho –
Southern Oregon overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to knock off Lewis-Clark State 73-72 in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday night at L-C Activity Center.

With the win, SOU improves to 2-2 overall this season. Lewis-Clark State falls to 2-1. The Raiders return to action Friday, when they travel to Klamath Falls for the Oregon Tech Tournament and open against Holy Names at 5:30 p.m.

The Warriors opened in dominant fashion, taking a 23-8 lead less than eight minutes into the contest. Southern Oregon slowly whittled away at the deficit and trailed by eight points at halftime.

Spencer Drury hit a three-pointer early in the second half to put L-C State back up by 11, but the double-digit lead would not last as SOU would use a 10-2 run to pull within three points and would not trail by more than seven the rest of the way.

The Raiders finally tied it up at 59-59 on a Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) field goal with 4:37 to play, and SOU took its first lead since the opening minutes at 66-65 on Tedder's three-pointer with less than three minutes remaining.

The two teams hung together in the final minutes. Lewis-Clark State took a two-point lead with 82 seconds remaining on Danny Marshall's free throw, but Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) hit a three-pointer with 48 seconds to go to put SOU back up by one at 71-70. Drury made a pair of free throws with 13 seconds left to tie it and regain the lead for the Warriors, but Thompson dropped a buzzer-beater to give SOU the victory.

Thompson finished 11-of-20 from the field for his third-straight 30-point game, and he led the team with nine rebounds and four steals in the contest. Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) finished with 13 points and Tedder added 12 for the Raiders.

Jeray Key led the Warriors with 13 points, while Nick Fromm, Joey Wayman and Donte Archie each tallied 10 points for L-C State.
