The Concordia men shot 57 percent from the field and had four players score in double figures as they scored an 85-74 victory over Southern Oregon tonight at Riehm Arena.
The Cavs finish the regular season 12-17 overall and 6-12 in Cascade Conference play. Southern Oregon finishes the regular season 14-15 overall and 6-12 in conference. Based on tiebreakers, Southern Oregon will go as the No. 7 seed and travel to second-seed Eastern Oregon. Concordia goes as the No. 8 seed and will travel to top-seed Oregon Tech.
Drew Preuninger came off the bench for Concordia and led all scorers with 23 points and four 3-pointers. Adam Herman added 20 for the Cavs and Gage Aker finished with 14.
Trevor McCay (Petersburg, Alaska/Petersburg) and
Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) finished with 11 points for the Raiders. McCay's 11 points came in an impressive final four minutes of the game.
Concordia came out on fire and shot 56 percent to take a 43-30 lead at the half. The story stayed the same in the second half as the Cavs built a 24-point lead on a three free throws by Preuninger.
The Raiders slowly started to chip away to make it interesting over the last five minutes.
McCay came off the bench for a 3-pointer to trim the lead to 76-64 with 2:21 to play. An alley-oop dunk by McCay from senior
Drew Herrera (Medford, Ore./North Medford) got the lead down to 10 at 76-66 with 1:38 left in the game.
McCay then hit another 3-pointer with 44 seconds to play to get it to 79-71 and added a fourth 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining to trim the lead to 81-74.
But Preuninger responded with four free throws to ice the game for the Cavaliers.
