SOU Men Head To Eastern

2/22/2011 10:17:00 AM

The Southern Oregon men's return to the Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament begins Wednesday night with a trip to 11th-ranked Eastern Oregon.

The seventh-seeded Raiders (14-15) and second-seeded Mountaineers (23-5) tipoff at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Southern Oregon comes into the playoffs having dropped six of seven games, but they have been in the last four games.

The Raiders fell in overtime to Evergreen State, fell to conference champion Oregon Tech by 10, dropped a heartbreaker to Warner Pacific by three and had a late comeback thwarted by Concordia in the regular season finale.

Junior Jordan Highland (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) continues to be one of the most effective players in the Cascade Conference. Highland ranks third in the league in scoring at 15.8 per game and 11th in rebounding at 5.9 per game.

The Raiders rank fourth in Cascade Conference in scoring defense, allowing just over 70 points per game and they will need all of that against an offensive-minded Eastern Oregon squad.

The Mountaineers rank sixth in the NAIA in scoring (84.9), lead the NAIA in 3-pointers per-game (10.3) and are tied for ninth in 3-point percentage (.382).

Eastern Oregon has won seven straight coming into the game and swept the regular season series from the Raiders. Eastern scored an 80-68 victory in Ashland and a 95-53 victory at La Grande.
