First-Half Run Pushes Raiders to 85-62 Victory Over Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Southern Oregon took a 17-point halftime lead en route to an 85-62 victory over Evergreen Friday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball action at CRC Gymnasium.

Southern Oregon improves to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play with the win, while Evergreen falls to 1-16 overall and 0-8 in the CCC. The Raiders will travel to Kirkland to face No. 12 Northwest tomorrow night in a conference game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) scored 18 points to lead SOU, with Taylor Roos (Salem, Ore./Sprague) adding 16 points off the bench. Terriel Thomas (Boise, Idaho/Borah) made six of eight shot attempts to score 15 points and added a team-high nine rebounds in the win.

Larry Green made seven three-pointers in 15 attempts from beyond the arc to lead all scorers with 29 points for Evergreen. Patrick Lewis added 10 points for the Geoducks.

The Raiders shot 57.6 percent (19-of-33) in the first half and finished with a 54.5 percent mark (36-of-66) for the game. Evergreen shot 34.8 percent (23-of-66) from the field in the contest. Southern Oregon out-rebounded the Geoducks 46-to-32.

Evergreen took a 21-20 lead on Travis Wagner's three-pointer with 10:20 to play in the first half, and the game was tied at 22-22 one minute later. Thomas hit a three-pointer on the Raiders' next possession to spark a 15-point SOU run, and Evergreen did not pull closer than 13 points back the rest of the way as the Raiders coasted to the win.
