Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Southern Oregon's first-half struggles doomed the Raiders Friday night as the 23rd-ranked men's basketball team fell to No. 11 Davenport 72-57 in the Daytona Beach Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout.

Southern Oregon falls to 2-1 with its first loss of the season, while Davenport improves to 3-1. The Raiders will face Shawnee State in the tournament consolation game Saturday night at 6 p.m. EST.

Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) led SOU with 16 points as the only Raider to reach double figures. Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) tallied eight points and seven rebounds, while David Sturner (Philomath, Ore./Philomath) added nine points and six rebounds in the loss. Burnett Dominez finished with a game-high 17 points for Davenport, with DeArmond Davis adding 13 and Gabe VanderJagt totaling 11 points.

A cold-shooting first half cost the Raiders, as SOU connected on only six of 26 shot attempts in the opening period. Southern Oregon missed all 11 three-point attempts in the half and scored more than half its points from the free throw line, going 14-of-17 from the charity stripe.

Those early struggles helped Davenport jump to an early lead as the Panthers scored 11 of the first 13 points. Southern Oregon pulled within six following a pair of free throws by Tedder, but the Panthers used a 10-2 run to push their lead into double-figures. The Raiders would not pull within 10 points the rest of the way.

Davenport took a 46-26 lead into halftime, but Southern Oregon outscored the Panthers by five in the second half. The Raiders shot 11-of-28 from the field in the second period to improve on the first half shooting, but they still finished at 31.5 percent for the game.
