Bush, Southern Oregon men cruise past Westminster

Box Score KLAMATH FALLSJeff Bush (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) recorded 18 points and eight assists and helped the fourth-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team carve up Westminster (Utah) in a 77-63 win Friday afternoon at the Midland Empire Classic.

Bush went 6-for-6 from the field, leading the Raiders (4-1 overall) to 50.8-percent shooting (31-for-61) as a team. David Sturner (Philomath, Ore./Philomath) went 8-for-11 on his way to 19 points, 11 of which came in the second half, and added seven rebounds.

Westminster (4-3), an NAIA Division I school that competes in the Frontier Conference, came into the game shooting 26 percent from 3-point range and stayed cold outside, converting 2 of 14 attempts. The Griffins were led by 16 points apiece from Tallon Robertson and Blake Skidmore while Jordan Pryor had 11.

Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) came off the bench to score 13 points for SOU, going 3-for-4 from downtown. Twenty-one of SOU's 31 buckets were assisted as Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) complemented Bush's effort with five assists to go with nine points and five boards. Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield) chipped in 11 points and four assists.

Bush made both of his 3-pointers in the second half, where the Raiders opened up a lead that was just four at halftime. In his last two games, Bush is 11-for-12 from the field with 17 assists.

The Raiders play again at 3 p.m. Saturday versus William Jessup. They'll return to Danny Miles Court again on Tuesday, though, for a nonconference game against Oregon Tech.
