Bench dominates No. 4 SOU's 106-56 win over New Hope

Box Score ASHLAND – All 13 Raiders in action Friday night touched up the scoreboard in the fourth-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team's 106-56 thumping of New Hope Christian at Bob Riehm Arena.

Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) made all six of his shots, including three 3-pointers, and for the second straight game David Sturner (Philomath, Ore./Philomath) had a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Jeff Bush (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) had double-digit assists (10).

The Raiders (7-1 overall) put down 24 of 31 shots in the first half, rushing out to a 29-8 advantage midway through it, and shot 63.6 percent (42-for-66) on the night. Jordan West (Gymea Bay, Australia/Port Hacking) was 8-for-9 off the bench with 16 points and Jacob Kaler (Camas, Wash./Camas Valley) joined him with 15 points and five boards.

SOU reserves Kaler, Justin Martin (Central Point, Ore./Crater) and Dex Daum (Fallon, Nev./Churchill) combined to go 8-for-11 from 3-point range. Bench play accounted for 63 of SOU's points as Joel Spear (Adelaide, Australia/St. Michaels) contributed eight points and five assists.

The Raiders are now shooting 52.7 percent as a team this season.

They'll be tested Saturday in the final game of the Flagship Inn Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. against 5-0 Southeastern (Fla.), which was an 86-76 winner Friday against Oregon Tech.

The Deacons (2-9), who have lost all four in the all-time series against SOU, got 12 points apiece out of TJ Little and Nicholas Dillingham, but as a team they shot 23.9 percent (16-for-67).
