Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 REDDING, Calif. – The Southern Oregon University softball team was unable to produce a run in its return to the diamond Tuesday afternoon, losing 4-0 and 11-0 at Simpson University in a nonleague doubleheader.

Playing for the first time after a 31-day layoff, the Raiders (1-5) had three hits in Game 1 and four in a mercy-rule shortened Game 2 that went five innings. Two big innings put them under in both games.

Sydney White (Clovis, Calif./Clovis West) went the distance in the opener. She blanked the Redhawks (14-3) in five frames, but in the fourth inning she surrendered a two-run homer to Courtney Thomas and a solo shot to Taylor Hill. The other run was unearned, and White allowed just six hits.

Karlie Stephens (Eagle Point, Ore./Eagle Point) started and took the second loss as she was unable to make it out of the fourth, when the Redhawks plated nine runs. Six of their runs were unearned.

Sulie Augustine (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) went 2-for-4 on the day for the Raiders and Alexa Gonzalez (Menifee, Calif./Heritage) took two walks in Game 2.

Katelyn Bell and Amy Rodriguez tossed the shutouts.

The Raiders will play their home-openers Saturday in another twin bill against Simpson at University Field. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
