ASHLAND – At the annual Southern Oregon University wrestling Red & Black Intrasquad on Wedneday night, the more experienced Black team retained its longstanding upper hand but just by a sliver, 55-52 at Riehm Arena.

The night featured 22 men's and five women's bouts, and wasn't finished until the final contest when Red's Tenaya Raives – who needed a pin to tie the dual – flirted with a fall but settled for a last-second 4-4 decision win over Jasmine Ivey.

Bonus-point scorers on the night were Black's 285-pounder Alejandro Sandoval (pin), 125-pounder Casey Coulter (major decision), 141-pounder Devin Poppen (pin), 149-pounder Scottie Stockman (technical fall), 149-pounder Tanner Canday (major decision), 184-pounder Corson Davis (pin); and Red's 197-pounders TJ Cavender (pin) and Ryland Boyer (pin) and women Alejandra Rodriguez (pin), Latiana Tauaese (technical fall) and Kal Holliday (technical fall).

The Raiders start their season in earnest at 6:30 p.m. Friday with an intertwined men's and women's dual against Menlo.
