ASHLAND Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) and Tim Weber (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg), the Southern Oregon University men's basketball team's two seniors, have been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Thompson and Weber, both Roseburg High products, are among 20 student-athletes who made their respective all-district teams across the NAIA. All are now eligible to be voted onto the Academic All-America team, which will be announced later this month.

Of the 20 honorees, Thompson and Weber are the only ones currently in graduate programs. Both completed their undergrad work at SOU in three years. Thompson did so with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.57 and carries a 3.93 GPA as he pursues a master's degree in teaching. Weber sported a 3.71 as an undergrad and has a 3.89 in his master's elementary education program.

The Capital One program is designed to recognize student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom.

Thompson, a 6-foot-7 forward, is SOU's all-time leading scorer and last year became the second Raider ever to earn second-team NAIA All-American accolades. He's leading the team in scoring for the fourth straight season at 19.8 points per game to go with 7.4 rebounds, shooting 52 percent from the field and 49 on 3-pointers.

Weber, a 6-8 guard, is the NAIA's leader at 7.6 per game and is also averaging career-highs of 12.8 points on 52-percent shooting and 6.5 rebounds. His season has included the first three triple-doubles in at least 20 years at SOU and eight games with 10-plus assists.

The duo has led the 17th-ranked Raiders to a 19-5 record this season despite the losses of the school's all-time leading assist man (Jeff Bush (West Linn, Ore./West Linn)), the seventh-leading scorer in program history (Kyle Tedder (Coos Bay, Ore./Marshfield)) and an All-American forward (David Sturner (Philomath, Ore./Philomath)).

The other District 4 honorees were Korey Anderson of The Master's (Calif.), Stephen Grosey of Concordia (Calif.) and Tyler Velasquez of Concordia (Ore.).
