Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ASHLAND – Southern Oregon had one win taken away by 23rd-ranked Corban, but the Warriors gave one right back in a Cascade Conference twin bill that started Saturday and spilled into Sunday afternoon at University Field.

Corban claimed the opener, 6-4 in 10 innings, and two seventh-inning errors gave the Raiders four unearned runs and a 4-3 victory in Game 2.

Trailing 3-2 in the seventh with two outs and runners at second and third, SOU's Kayla Douglas (Santa Rosa, Calif./Cardinal Newman) lofted a fly ball between Corban center fielder Annie Owen and right fielder RaeAnna Dorcas. Both players called for it and nearly collided, and Owen stuck her glove out before the ball popped in and out as Megan Winton (Davis, Calif./Davis Senior) and Davalin Ontiveros (Bakersfield, Calif./Centennial) trotted home for the tying and winning runs.

The Raiders went to 30-20 overall – marking their first 30-win season since 2006 – and 11-11 in circuit play, giving them a three-game lead for the fourth and final CCC playoff spot with six left to play. Corban went to 32-12 and 15-7, dropping to three games out of first place.

Game 1 began on Saturday afternoon but was halted at 4-4 after nine completed innings due to rain. Corban needed just only one at-bat to finish off the Raiders on Sunday with three singles in the top of the 10th – the first a leadoff stroke by Taylor Eilders, who advanced to third on a fielding error, and RBI hits by Jaslyn Rush and Anne Binschus. Eilders went 5-for-5 in the game and Binschus was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

The Raiders trailed that one 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, but Alexa Gonzalez (Menifee, Calif./Heritage) led off with a triple and Krystina Pardoski (Gaberville, Calif./South Fork) tied it with an RBI double. SOU appeared to have the game won a few batters later when Douglas hit a fly to center field and Pardoski tagged from third to cross the plate. The Warriors contested that Pardoski left third early and their appeal was upheld, wiping the winning run off the board.

SOU had another chance in the ninth with runners on first and third and one outs. Winton swung at and lined what was intended to be the fourth ball of an intentional walk, but the ball was snagged at second and thrown to first for a double play.

Pardoski went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, Ally Painter (La Palma, Calif./St. Joseph) went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Winton added a pair of hits. Brianne Craig (Rialto, Calif./Etiwanda) went all 10 innings, throwing 178 pitches and taking the loss.

In Game 2, solo homers in the fourth and fifth from Kylie Durre and Owen had the Warriors up 3-0.

It stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh, which Painter led off with a double. With one out, Pardoski reached on a throwing error at third that scored Winton, and with two outs Winton lined a single before an Ontiveros blooper brought home Tyler Burke (Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood). That set the stage for Douglas, who made a winner out of Cheyenne Bricker (Bieber, Calif./Big Valley) in a complete-game, six-hit effort.

Cortney Nolan (Twin Falls, Idaho/Twin Falls), Ontiveros, Painter and Winton had two hits apiece for the Raiders.

Corban starter Jessica Holsinger allowed two hits over four scoreless innings, and Sabrina Boyd was the tough-luck loser.

SOU will finish up with six straight on the road, starting at Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho on Friday and Saturday.
