Hannah Matsen, SOU Sports Info Assistant

ASHLAND –
Southern Oregon scored twice in the first half, twice early in the second and one more before the buzzer Friday afternoon to defeat Walla Walla, 5-1, in the first men's soccer game ever played at Raider Stadium.

Johnny Workman (6th minute), Brendan Allen (22'), Dakota Marquez (46'), Dakota Scott (51') and Seigo Hall (90') were the goal-scorers for the Raiders in their first-ever Cascade Conference victory. Ahmon Afenegus had two assists, while Scott, Marquez and Luis Ayala had one apiece.

The Raiders moved to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in conference. Walla Walla – which was playing its first game of 2015, and its first as a member of the CCC and the NAIA – benefited from an own goal in the 75th minute.

Workman, a junior defender, kicked in Afenegus's corner kick in for SOU's first goal. Allen followed by rebounding and finishing Scott's shot in the 22nd minute.

Less than a minute into the second half, Marquez finished from close in thanks to another Afenegus assist. The fourth goal belonged to Scott, who connected from 10 yards out on a line drive set up by Marquez.

With one second left on the clock, Ayala led Hall to the front of the goal, earning his first goal of the season with an uncontested bunny.

The Wolves got off one shot, two on goal, while the Raiders kept Walla goalkeeper Josh Fry busy with 29 shots and 17 on goal. Fry made 12 saves compared to SOU goalkeeper Tyler Luebbert's one.

SOU is back in action at Raider Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to take on Multnomah.
