REDDING, Calif. – For the third time this season, the 17th-ranked Southern Oregon men's wrestling team was too much for No. 19 Simpson on Thursday night during its second-most lopsided dual of the season, 38-8 in West Region action.

The Raiders upped their dual record to 9-2 going into Friday's 7 p.m. matchup at 10th-ranked Menlo. Three of those wins have been against the Redhawks, who have dropped all nine matchups in series history against SOU.

Four of the teams' six combined nationally-ranked wrestlers didn't compete, and Simpson forfeited the 149- and 184-pound classes. The Raiders jumped out to a 17-0 lead as Reed Tennyson won by forfeit at 184, 16th-ranked Tanner Fischer (197) topped Erik Medina by decision (9-3), Zane Wardwell (285) scored an 8-0 major decision against Henry Campos, and Casey Coulter (125) followed with a 9-0 major decision over Mason Sauseda.

The Redhawks earned their only two wins of the night in succession: 11th-ranked Vicente Hernandez (133) won by 16-0 technical fall against Matt Peterson and Richard Morris (141) got Tim Tsukanov by 10-7 decision.

SOU's fourth-ranked Tyler Cowger (149) accepted a forfeit before the Raiders claimed the final three bouts. Hunter Hodges (157) and James Bowers (165) worked the only two pins of the night back-to-back – Hodges in 6 minutes 25 seconds against Anthony Vega and Bowers in 6:04 against Ben Gacayan. The finale was a 2-0 win for Tanner Sherrow over Matt Tsarnas at 174 pounds.

After Friday's dual at Menlo, the Raiders' final dual of the season is Feb. 6 against Warner Pacific at Ashland High.
