Raiders play Saint Martin's to scoreless tie

PORTLAND – A staunch defensive performance allowed the Southern Oregon women's soccer team to walk away with a scoreless draw Friday night against Saint Martin's (Wash.) at Concordia's Tuominen Yard.

The Raiders (3-2-1 overall) made do despite being outshot 23-8. They've shut out three of their last five opponents.

The Saints (0-1-1) are the first NCAA Division II team SOU has taken a point from in three years.

Daisy Cervantes, Jacqueline Laird and Megan Smith played all 110 minutes defensively. Raider keeper Kylie Moltzen saved six shots, while Saints keeper Ali Koehler needed only to save two.

SOU made a late charge in the second overtime period, registering all three shots and four corner kicks, but was unable to capitalize.

The Raiders will remain in Portland for Saturday's 7 p.m. matchup with former Cascade Conference foe Concordia in an attempt to snap a 20-game series skid.
