OREGON CITY – Southern Oregon's Tanner Fischer finished off a strong weekend Sunday with a 197-pound title to lead the ninth-ranked Raiders' showing at the Clackamas Open.

Fischer – the No. 9 wrestler in the NAIA at 197 pounds who on Saturday picked up his seventh and eighth straight dual victories – went 4-0 in the tournament with bonus points in every match. He started the day with two pins, downing Highline's Joshua Wessels in 4:33 and Pacific's Ian Orford in 1:57, and finished with two major decisions. He shut out Simon Fraser's Ciaran Ball in the semifinals, 8-0, and dominated Eastern Oregon's Eric Fan in the finals, 12-2.

Justin Acuff was SOU's other placer, taking fourth at 141 pounds, but five others reached their respective semifinals: Casey Coulter (133), Devin Poppen (141), Chandler Michael (157), James Bowers (165), Hunter Hodges (165) and Alejandro Sandoval (285). Michael didn't compete in his semifinal, declaring medical forfeits, and the others conceded their consolation opportunities after getting knocked out in the semis.

Acuff won three times – pinning Warner Pacific's Calvin Call in 5:44, topping Southwestern Oregon's Marcus Martin by 8-1 decision and edging Oregon State's Conner Noonan by 5-2 decision. In the consolation semis he ran into Poppen – who got there by winning his first two matches, pinning Noonan in 2:15 and beating Warner Pacific's Johnny Arreola, 4-1 – and Poppen injury-defaulted. In the third-place match, Acuff was defeated by OSU's Alex Rich, 3-2.

Michael's 2-0 day consisted of a pin in 1:14 against University of Washington's Gavin Eaglin and a 5-4 sudden victory against North Idaho's Deirrien Perkins. Bowers won by two decisions, 9-4 against OSU's Dracius McKee and 10-7 against Southwestern Oregon's Austin Howard. Hodges only needed one win to reach the semis and pinned Southwestern Oregon's Jared Tompkins in 1:09. And Sandoval's wins were by 11-1 major decision against Southwestern Oregon's Noah Howell and 3-1 decision against Highline's Teban Mansaray.

Coulter also started with two wins – by fall over WPC's Louis Palos in 5:49 and by decision over EOU's Terran Libolt, 1-0.

The Raiders return to dual action Wednesday at sixth-ranked Menlo (Calif.).
