ASHLAND
– What do the top four men's basketball teams in the Cascade Conference – No. 6 Northwest Christian, No. 16 Eastern Oregon, No. 15 Oregon Tech and No. 25 College of Idaho – have in common? Coming into the week, they're a combined 35-0 at home in CCC play.

Southern Oregon (17-11, 11-7 CCC) has not enjoyed the same degree of home dominance, sitting at 5-3 in the CCC, and the consequence will be a road game in the quarterfinal round of the CCC tournament next Wednesday. Where they go, and the seed they'll take – either No. 5 or 6 – will be determined as they play at Mountain Avenue Gym for the last time this weekend, 7:30 p.m. Saturday against Northwest Christian (23-3, 16-2) and 3 p.m. Sunday against Corban (15-13, 8-10).

NCU enters the week on a 15-game win streak. The Beacons have already clinched at least a share of the CCC title, and they can claim it outright with a win Thursday at OIT or Saturday at SOU.

Last Week: SOU's longest CCC road trip also proved to be its least fruitful, as the Raiders fell 94-83 Friday at Eastern Oregon and 87-70 Saturday at College of Idaho. EOU's Bryan McGriff, the presumptive frontrunner for circuit player-of-the-year honors, lit up SOU for 31 points the first night while the Mountaineers ran away with 10 first-half 3-pointers. On the second night, C of I used an 11-0 run to bust open a 44-44 game with 14 minutes to play behind four players in double figures. It was the first time the Raiders had been swept on the trip since the 2012-13 season, and the first time they'd lost back-to-back CCC games since the 2014-15 season.

Last Call: Sunday's game against Corban will be the last in Ashland this season for the Raiders, and therefore the last home game for their lone senior, 3-point specialist Justin Martin. A perennial NAIA Scholar Athlete and Academic All-Cascade Conference honoree, the Central Point native has lived life at SOU mostly beyond the arc: In his four-year career, he's gone 135-of-371 from 3-point range and 13-of-23 inside the line. Martin has already earned a degree in business marketing and is currently enrolled in SOU's master's program. Since he joined the team in 2012, the Raiders have won 114 games – the most in any five-year stretch in team history.

Briefly:
Ben DeSaulnier notched his 12th 20-point game of the season last Friday at EOU with 21 on 9-of-12 shooting. He ranks fourth in CCC scoring (17.9), 12th in field-goal percentage (51.5), third in free-throw percentage (87.0) and sixth in steals (1.5).
– After averaging 9.5 points through SOU's first eight conference games, Tristen Holmes has averaged 19.1 over the last 10.  He's also the CCC's fourth-leading assist man at 5.3 per game.
Jason Simmrin has continued an uptick in production off the bench, shooting 25-of-45 and averaging 8.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in the second half of CCC play. His average of 0.8 blocks is the 13th-best in the circuit.
– Though they've recently slumped (relatively) from the field – failing to shoot 50 percent in their last five games – the Raiders still lead the CCC in field-goal percentage (49.0) and free-throw percentage (76.7).

About Northwest Christian:
– SOU is 27-23 all-time against the Beacons but lost the first matchup this season, 86-62 in Eugene, after being outscored 48-27 in the second half. NCU 7-footer Kylor Kelly dominated that game with a school-record nine blocks and 16 rebounds but is no longer with the team.
– The Beacons' last loss was on Dec. 17 at Eastern Oregon. During their streak, they've won by an average of 16.3 points but have also taken five games that were decided by five or fewer points.
– Senior forward Jay Mayernik – who started his collegiate career 13 seasons ago at SOU – is averaging 15.7 points on 62-percent shooting, leads the CCC at 11.7 rebounds per game and ranks second at 1.4 blocks. His 16 double-doubles are the third-most in the NAIA.
– NCU has thrived on defense, ranking second in both opponents' shooting percentage (41.2) and 3-point percentage (32.7) and first in blocks (5.2).
– Jack Hackman is second in the CCC in 3-pointers made (61) and 3-point percentage (50.8).

About Corban:
– The Warriors have locked up a playoff berth and can clinch their third straight winning season with a win this weekend. They've struggled in close games, though, going 1-5 in the CCC in contests decided by six or fewer points.
– SOU won the first meeting, 94-88 in Salem on Dec. 9, while hitting its first eight 3-point attempts (a school record). The overall series is tied, 42-42.
– The Raiders have won 11 straight matchups in Ashland. Of the last seven, though, three have gone to overtime and two more were decided by three points.
– Forward Joel Johnson is the only CCC player in at least a decade to shoot over 70 percent from the floor in back-to-back conference season and currently leads the nation at 70.9 overall. In CCC play, guards Chris Martin (14.8) and AJ Monterossi (13.1) lead the team in scoring.
