Due to inclement weather that has caused poor field conditions in Klamath Falls, third-ranked Southern Oregon (17-4 overall, 5-1 Cascade Conference) and No. 9 Oregon Tech (18-6, 6-0) will move their highly-anticipated series to University Field in Ashland on Saturday and Sunday.

The four-game set was supposed to be the first played at OIT's new Stilwell Stadium, but a backlog of snow forced officials to make the decision on Wednesday night. It'll be the first conference series ever involving SOU that has featured two top-10 NAIA teams.

NAIA TOP 25: The Raiders were No. 3 in Tuesday's first regular-season edition of the NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll, the same spot they were assigned in the preseason. Science & Arts (Okla.), the defending national champion, took over the top spot with a 17-0 start. Oregon Tech went from No. 10 to No. 9 and Corban went from 16th to 14th after both sweeping their first two conference series. College of Idaho, off to a 5-1 start in conference play, is receiving votes and five spots out of the Top 25.

SHORT HOPS:
  • Of the eight individuals in the CCC hitting .400 or better with at least 50 at-bats, three are Raiders: Lauren Quirke (.500), Tiana Brown (.436) and Allie Stines (.417). Hannah Shimek is one hit off the pace with a .394 average. As a team, the Raiders rank eighth nationally in team batting average (.373) and 23rd in runs per game (7.2).
  • Dating back to last season, Shimek has an active 37-game on-base streak – 10 games shy of matching the team record Harlee Donovan established last season.
  • After hitting two home runs in last week's CCC sweep of Carroll (Mont.), Stines is up to four home runs – including two of the leadoff variety – and 13 extra-base hits to match Quirke. Stines, a left-handed catcher, has also caught 13 of 27 attempted base-stealers, six more than any other CCC catcher.
  • At 11-1, junior Gabby Sandoval owns four more victories than any other CCC pitcher and has thrown 20 more innings than anyone else with 80 1/3. Her opponents' batting average of .182 is the best in the CCC, and with a 1.31 ERA, she's allowed an earned run in just one of her four CCC starts.

ABOUT OREGON TECH:
  • The Owls are riding an 11-game winning streak into the weekend, having scored at least 10 runs in nine of those games and swept Northwest (Wash.) and Providence (Wash.). Their .368 team average is second in the conference to SOU.
  • First baseman Dre Sotelo is igniting the lineup with a .486 average, .604 OBP, five homers and seven doubles. Ali Graham, the 2016 CCC Player of the Year, remains one of the top bats in the circuit at .434 with six homers and 12 doubles. She's also been the team's best arm at 7-3 with a 2.20 ERA, though Sarah Abramson (7-3, 3.00) gives the Owls a formidable one-two punch.
  • The Raiders are 57-60 all-time against the Owls. They've won nine of the last 11 matchups, though OIT took two of three CCC counters in 2018.
