CALDWELL, Idaho – Larissa Wegner headed in a Sydney Clements cross with 31 seconds left in regulation to give first-place College of Idaho a 2-1 Cascade Conference win over Southern Oregon on Friday night at Simplot Stadium.
Winners of four straight entering the matchup, the Raiders (7-4-1 overall, 5-2 CCC) initiated the dramatic finish by scoring the equalizer in the 88th minute. Trailing 1-0,
Baylee Touey crossed from right to left on a counter to assist
Malaika Quigley's second goal in as many games.
Less than two minutes later, Wegner had the 90th-minute answer for the Yotes (10-3, 7-1) with her third goal of the season.
C of I had broken the scoreless tie in the 54th, when Megan Wilkinson scored on another header off Payton Mongelli's corner kick.
The Yotes are unbeaten in 10 straight home games spanning back to last spring. They became the first team to score multiple goals against the Raiders.
Touey's assist was her team-leading fifth of the year. Quigley's goal was her third.
The Raiders were outshout by a 21-9 margin but keeper
Jessie Selby kept them in the game with seven saves.
They'll be back in action Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. match at Eastern Oregon, which dropped out of a first-place tie with the Yotes with a 2-0 loss to Oregon Tech on Friday.
