COMPLETE TOURNAMENT RESULTS
FOREST GROVE – Freshman 125-pounder
Simon Graeber and NAIA All-American 133-pounder
Evan Potter captured championships to lead the No. 20-ranked Southern Oregon men's wrestling team on Sunday at the Mike Clock Open.
Alex Hernandez (174 pounds),
Kabb Christensen (184) and
Ben Hughes (197) also made finals for the Raiders.
Jordan Faifai (165) place third, while
Andrew Herrera (197) and
Jaden Martin (285) were fourth in their respective brackets.
Wrestling as a Raider for the first time, Graeber won three consecutive matches by fall to reach his final. There, the product of Nampa, Idaho, worked a 9-3 decision of Corban's Brayden Boyd.
Potter – a sophomore ranked No. 3 at 133 pounds after placing sixth nationally last season – started with a pin before winning three decisions in a row. He beat Warner Pacific's David Campbell 5-2 in the final.
Hernandez went 4-1 with two pins and ended with a 6-5 loss to club wrestler Daschle Lamer. Christensen advanced to his final by pinning three straight opponents before losing by fall to unattached wrestler Justin Rademacher. Two pins and a decision preceded Hughes' 7-4 loss to Corban's Tyson Stover.
Faifai, a freshman from Roy, Utah, was SOU's second-leading points scorer on the day. He went 5-1 with four falls and a 16-0 technical fall over Southwestern Oregon C.C.'s Isaiah Toomey in the third-place match, bouncing back from a loss in his second match of the tourney.
Four Raiders placed sixth:
Greg Guzman (141),
Nolan Randles (149), Fabian Miranda-Walla (184), and
Antonio Garcia (285).
SOU is home for a 7 p.m. dual on Friday against rival Eastern Oregon.
