COMPLETE MEET RESULTS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Many of the usual suspects got busy qualifying for the Southern Oregon University track and field team Saturday at Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational.

The Raiders met six NAIA Championships qualifying standards – two of the automatic variety, four of them provisional – in a successful second meet of the outdoor season. Freshman sensation Abi Stevens walked away with one of the 'A' marks in the high jump, shooting to No. 2 on SOU's all-time performance list, and the Raider women's 4x100-meter relay team of recorded the other.

The 'B' marks went on the women's side to Molly Guerra in the discus and KiAshe Hobby in the hammer, and on the men's side to Adam O'Brien in the pole vault and AJ Sandvig in the 800.

Stevens – in her first outdoor meet at SOU and coming off two All-American performances at the NAIA Indoor Championships – logged the best high jump mark of the young season at 5 feet 7 ¾ inches. It was the best at SOU since Melanie Byrne set the school record by clearing six feet in 1990 and good for runner-up status at the meet.

SOU's 4x100 team of Baylee Touey, Camille Lawrence, McKenna Wilson and Lindsey Bonney finished in 47.98 seconds, hitting the 'A' standard by one-hundredth of a second. They were racing in a heat that included four NCAA Division I teams and finished fourth overall.

Guerra, a junior transfer from Grants Pass, threw the discus 143-11 for her 'B' and fourth place in a 16-person field. Hobby, a returning national qualifier, barely missed an 'A' in the hammer with a throw of 165-7 for 10th place out of 23.

In the men's 800, Sandvig needed a time of 1:53.80 or better for the 'B' and finished in 1:52.98, placing sixth of 42. O'Brien – who just became a two-time All-American in the pole vault with an eighth-place finish at the NAIA Indoor Championships – qualified for the Outdoor Championships for the second year in a row by clearing 15-7 to win the 11-person event.

Jade O'Connor missed a 'B' by less than two-tenths of a second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.79, but placed third of 14. Shane McLaughlin led the Raiders with a 22nd-place finish in the 100 (11.11) and a 15th-place finish in the 200 (22.59), while Aidan Mendoza was seventh of 39 in the 400 (49.37). In the distance races, Jensen Salvatori highlighted SOU's efforts by taking 11th of 56 in the 1,500 (4:01.97).

Elsewhere in the men's field, Andrew Mitchell placed fourth in the javelin (179-3) and Wayne Garcia was fourth in the hammer (170-0).

For SOU's women, Bonney paced the Raiders in the 100 in 13th place (12.33) and Camille Lawrence did so in the 200 (11th, 25.50) and 400 (8th, 58.37). In a 41-person 1,500 race, Kayla Clayton was seventh (4:46.85) and Maya Smith was 13th (4:54.74).
