BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southern Oregon University track and field team will make its first appearance at the NAIA Indoor Championships in two years this Thursday through Saturday at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

The Raiders will be in action in one men's and three women's events and, based on preliminary seeding, have All-America aspirations in each of them.

Freshman Abi Stevens owns the team's highest seeds at No. 8 in Thursday's pentathlon and No. 4 in Saturday's high jump. The SOU women's 4x400-meter relay team, featuring a pair of All-Americans, race the prelims Thursday for a spot in Saturday's final, and All-American Adam O'Brien will take the pole vault on Saturday.

COMPLETE SOU ENTRIES (All times Pacific)
WOMEN'S PENTATHLON
SOU Entry/Seed: Abi Stevens, 3,387 (8th)
Start Time: 10 a.m. Thursday
Top Seed: Lindsay Adams (Doane), 3,717
About: Making her debut on the national scene, Stevens will attempt to become SOU's first-ever All-American in the indoor pentathlon. In her only multi-events outing this winter, she ran away with the win at the University of Portland/George Fox Indoor Meet No. 3 on Feb. 5 to log what was the NAIA's sixth-best score at the time.

WOMEN'S 4x400-METER RELAY
SOU Entry/Seed: SOU, 3:58.24 (13th)
Prelims: 2:30 p.m. Thursday
Finals: 2:55 p.m. Saturday
Top Seed: Indiana Tech, 3:44.39
About: Camille Lawrence, Erin Gibson, Lindsey Bonney and Baylee Touey will take on the relay for the Raiders with Stevens serving as an alternate. Minus Bonney, they recorded their qualifying time while placing fourth on Feb. 12 at the Whitworth Invitational. Bonney ran for the Raiders' 4x400 team that placed 10th at the 2020 NAIA Indoor Championships, but she and Touey elevated the Raiders to fifth place at last year's NAIA Outdoor Championships in the 4x100 and helped them to No. 7 on the national 4x400 performance list with a time of 3:51.45.

WOMEN'S HIGH JUMP
SOU Entry/Seed: Abi Stevens, 1.69m (4th)
Prelims/Finals: 11:30 a.m. Saturday
Top Seed: Jaunita Webster-Freeman, 1.72m
About: When Stevens turned in her high jump 'A' mark on Feb. 5, she did it as part of the pentathlon and took over the NAIA's top spot at the time. She cleared 5 feet 6 ½ inches, just 1 ¼ inches short of the top mark this season. SOU hasn't boasted an All-American in the women's high jump since Melanie Byrne placed sixth in the 1989 NAIA Outdoor Championships.

MEN'S POLE VAULT
SOU Entry/Seed: Adam O'Brien, 4.66m (10th)
Prelims/Finals: 11:15 a.m. Saturday
Top Seed: Damon Knowles (Taylor), 5.20m
About: O'Brien hit the NAIA 'B' mark twice in the qualifying stages, doing his best on Feb. 12 at the Whitworth Invitational where he cleared 15-3 ½. He'll attempt to add another All-America decoration after placing seventh at the NAIA Outdoor Championships last spring, which marked SOU's first top-eight finish in the pole vault since 2008. His PR was 16-0 ¾.
