TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Top-ranked Southern Oregon cruised into the NAIA women's semifinal round Friday at the NWCA National Dual Meet Championships, dispatching Ottawa (Kan.), 43-6, and No. 9 Texas Wesleyan, 32-10, at the Kentucky Expo Center.
In their Round of 16 matchup with Ottawa, the Raiders opened with two forfeit victories and went on to record five pins and two technical falls. In the quarterfinals against TWU, they won the first four matches – including two decisions by tiebreaker criteria – and stayed the course on their way to Saturday's semifinal dual against No. 5 Menlo (Calif.).
The Raiders and Oaks, who met on Dec. 9 in Ashland for a 36-8 SOU romp, will match up at 7:30 a.m. Pacific Time. The winner will appear in the championship at 10:30 a.m.
The Raiders improved to 4-0 in dual action. They advanced to the National Dual semifinals for the second year in a row, having finished third place in 2022.
Two Raiders earned a pair of wins by fall on the opening day of the tournament: top-ranked
Carolina Moreno at 123 pounds, and No. 2-ranked
Emily Se at 143.
Joye Levendusky, ranked No. 3 at 170, won twice by technical fall.
