TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

OREGON CITY – Freshman Vonn Fenn dominated the 125-pound bracket to leave the Clackamas Open as a champion for the No. 19-ranked Southern Oregon men's wrestling team on Sunday afternoon.

Fenn's first collegiate tournament title run began with three consecutive pins – the first in 40 seconds against Linfield's Sayed Amanzad, the second with four seconds left in the first round against Eastern Oregon's Jay Gomez, and the third with five seconds left in his match against Umpqua's Nicolas Garza. In the title round, he blanked EOU's Jack Mylar with a 16-0 technical fall.

John White (184 pounds) and No. 16-ranked Andrew Herrera (197) both advanced to finals for the Raiders. White recorded two falls and a decision before losing 11-4 to No. 9 Kyle Knudtson of EOU in the championship; Herrera dropped his final 4-1 to Oregon State's Jackson McKinney, but got there with a first-round pin, a tech fall and a decision.

Jonathan Hernandez (149) and Dylan Straley (157) placed third in their brackets. Hernandez, another freshman, went 5-1 on the day with three bonus-point victories. Straley, ranked No. 17 in the NAIA, went 4-1 with three technical falls and took a 10-9 decision from Simon Fraser's Magnus McCrackin in his third-place match.

Sebastian Echeverria (285) was fourth, Ayden Wolgamott (174) was fifth, and Anthony Perez (141) was sixth for the Raiders. Evan Potter, SOU's top-ranked 141-pounder, had his day cut short due to injury.

They're home for the first time next week, facing Arizona Christian at 7 p.m. Friday and Linfield at 5 p.m. Saturday.
