ASHLAND – Three consecutive pins followed by back-to-back major decisions started the night and put No. 8-ranked Southern Oregon on track for its most lopsided win over No. 15 Montana State-Northern in 13 years, 32-16 in a Cascade Conference matchup Friday at Bob Riehm Arena.

The Raiders upped their record to 12-0 in dual action, storming out to a 26-0 through five matches before a second half that was spoiled by four Lights victories and a pair of injury defaults.

Vonn Fenn, ranked No. 12 at 125 pounds, sparked SOU as the first of three Raiders to win by first-round fall. He was followed by No. 12 Dylan Clark (133) and No. 17 Simon Graber (141).

The Raiders then got major-decision shutouts from No. 23 Travis Thorpe (149) and No. 3 Aaron Gandara (157). The Lights didn't get their first points until No. 14 Travis Waldner defeated No. 19 Dylan Straley – who was wrestling up a weight – by 6-0 decision at 165.

The next two matches ended with injuries, going to MSUN's No. 13 Devin Crawford (174) and SOU's Braylin Ruchti (184). The top matchup of the night – SOU's No. 9 Asher Ruchti against MSUN's No. 14 Austin Vanek at 197 – came down to the final seconds, when a takedown swung a 9-8 decision in Vanek's favor.

No. 11-ranked heavyweight Shane Mattson gave MSUN the capper with an 11-2 major decision over Sebastian Echeverria.

Fenn improved to 7-0 in dual matches and has now won three of those by fall. Ruchti's loss was his first of the dual variety this season.

Before breaking for the holidays, SOU will send a contingent Sunday to the Reno Tournament of Champions. The Raiders will next put their unbeaten record on the line Jan. 10-11 at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
