Hingano, Lanphear Ramirez claim titles at Mountaineer Open

LA GRANDEKat Hingano captured her second consecutive tournament title and Mi Amanda Lanphear Ramirez won her first of the season for Southern Oregon on Sunday at Eastern Oregon's Mountaineer Open.

Hingano, a freshman ranked No. 16 in the NAIA at 207 pounds, didn't give up a point during her 5-0 day in the round-robin affair. Two weeks after triumphing at the Spokane Open, she recorded two pins, a technical fall and two forfeit victories.

Lanphear Ramirez, another freshman, went 4-1 in the 117-pound round robin. She finished the day with three consecutive wins by fall.

The Raiders produced four runners-up: Malia Welch (124), Nevaeh Arthun (131), Sariah Zepeda (145) and Emily Bellant (180). Three more placed third: Manko, Eliza Goodwin (138) and Isabella Prinslow (160).

Behind the champions, Prinslow yielded the next-highest point total. She went 4-1 with three pins and a forfeit victory.

Myia Weiler added a fourth-place finish at 124.

SOU travels to Naperville, Ill., next Sunday for the North Central Open.
