COMPLETE MEET RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – Southern Oregon's
Luke King became an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put with a heave of 51 feet 11 ¾ inches Saturday at the Spokane Invitational.
King had a provisional-qualifying mark entering the meet, but eclipsed the 'A' standard by 3 ½ inches in his latest effort. He placed third in a field of 46 and stands at No. 22 on the national performance list.
He'll be at the national meet on Feb. 29 in Brookings, S.D., with eight-time All-American
Abi Stevens, who on Friday registered the NAIA's second-highest pentathlon score. Stevens was in action again Saturday in the high jump, clearing 5-3 ¾ to place fourth of 28. She was 1 ¼ inches short of the NAIA 'B' standard.
King, a senior from Crescent City, Calif., is now a two-time national qualifier. Last spring at the NAIA Outdoor Championships, he took 12th in the shot put.
