EUGENE – Southern Oregon logged four women's event victories and one on the men's side in its outdoor track and field season debut Saturday at the Lane Open.

After placing second in the women's 800 meters, Cammeo Ramirez won a 27-person race in the 1,500 with a time of 4 minutes 49.23 seconds. Alyssa Johnson (4:57.17) and Sarah Mauk (4:59.90) were just behind her in fourth and fifth.

The Raiders got additional women's victories from Abi Stevens in the long jump (18 feet 3 ¼ inches), Sienna Bauer in the triple jump (35-1 ¼) and Ilyhia Greely in the discus (124-3). Indian Ortiz placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:05.75) and was less than a second off the NAIA Championships provisional-qualifying standard.

Freshman Mason Weisgerber, running for the first time since he placed 51st in the NAIA cross-country circuit, topped a 50-person field in the men's 1,500 in 4:00.19 – one-tenth of a second ahead of Frankie Maciel, his teammate and runner-up.

Andrew Mitchell – last year's national runner-up in the javelin, Saturday's results for which have yet to be published – placed third of 40 throwers in the discus with a mark of 151-3. Jayden Christy and Carson Le Bel tied for second of 13 in the high jump, both clearing 5-11 ¼.

The Raiders totaled nine women's and seven men's Cascade Conference qualifying marks at the meet. They return to action next week at Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational.
