MEET CENTRAL
CORVALLIS – Senior All-American
Andrew Mitchell notched an event victory in the javelin as the Southern Oregon track and field team wrapped up its stay at the Oregon State High Performance Meet with a small contingent on Saturday.
After the Raiders recorded three more distance national-qualifying times on Friday, Mitchell got back to business as usual on Day 2. The San Diego product, who still ranks second on the NAIA's javelin performance list, posted the fifth-best throw of his career at 211 feet 8 inches to score his third win in the event this season.
The Raiders also got solid races in the women's 800 meters from 34th-place
Sarah Mauk (2:19.23) and the men's 800 from 45th-place
Rafe Blandini (1:58.72), each of whom finished in the top halves of their large fields.
Dylan Heath ran the 400 in 51.01 seconds to place 17th of 45, and
Luke King added an 11th-place effort in a 28-person shot put field with a mark of 46-7 ½.
The Raiders are two weeks away from traveling to Klamath Falls for the Cascade Conference Championships. They have their final tune-up next Saturday at the Linfield Open.
