ASHLAND – Twenty-four hours ahead of their postseason opener, seven Southern Oregon University softball players got nods when the All-Cascade Conference awards were announced Thursday by the CCC office.

Three Raiders landed on the All-CCC first team: senior first baseman Jordan Henderson, junior catcher Piper Love and senior pitcher Katie Machado. Second-team honors went to senior third baseman Hannah Clavelle and junior outfielder Hailey Seva, while Faith Moultrie, another junior outfielder, received honorable mention. Junior center fielder Sarah Kerling won her second consecutive Gold Glove and Henderson claimed her first.

The group has led the Raiders to a 34-15 overall record and a third-place tie in the CCC regular season at 20-7. They were ranked No. 17 in Wednesday's final NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll and will be the No. 4 seed in the CCC Tournament, opening the double-elimination affair at 9 a.m. Friday against No. 5 seed British Columbia in Klamath Falls.

Machado was SOU's only repeat All-CCC team member after earning second-team honors each of the last season seasons. The senior was among eight pitchers on the first team, having completed the regular season with a 19-4 record and a 1.70 ERA. She led the circuit in complete games (20) and innings pitching (164 2/3) while recording 122 strikeouts compared to 36 walks. She also registered a conference-best four saves.

Henderson and Love have both enjoyed breakout seasons as regular starters for the first time, ranking fifth and sixth on the conference batting average leaderboard at .394 and .393, respectively. Henderson, who has yet to commit an error defensively, was among the CCC's top-eight in home runs (6), doubles (13), RBIs (33), slugging percentage (.638) and on-base percentage (.467). Love ranked third in hits (59) and doubles (13) and sixth in RBIs (35).

At third base, Clavelle batted .359 with six home runs, 13 doubles and a team-high 38 RBIs in her first season as a starter. Seva, who started her first season as a Raider at second base and transitioned to right field, is at .358 with a team-high 21 extra-base hits and 31 RBIs. In conference play, Clavelle's average was .411 and Seva's .378.

Moultrie, SOU's leadoff hitter, enters the postseason with a .341 average, 26 stolen bases on 28 attempts and a team-high 42 runs scored.

Kerling's elite range continued to stand out in center field, leading to her second Gold Glove. She remained sure-handed when she getting to the ball: In 103 games played over the last two seasons, she has committed one error.

League champion Oregon Tech had the Player of the Year in Kaila Mick and the Coach of the Year in Greg Stewart. Eastern Oregon's Kaylie Hoskins was voted the top pitcher and College of Idaho's Lolo Walker the top newcomer.
