WOMEN'S TOP 25 | MEN'S TOP 25
ASHLAND – One week out from the Cascade Conference Championships, the Southern Oregon men's cross country team will race as the No. 9-ranked team in the NAIA and the women as No. 18.
In their latest outing, the Raider men placed 12th at the Highlander Invitational with a top-5 average time of 24 minutes 55 seconds over the 8,000-meter course. They were paced by Carter Stedman (23:47.9) and Mason Weisgerber (23:49.4) – who both ran under the previous school record of 24:02 – and followed up by Josh Hepner (24:40), Trent Abraham (25:45), and Gus Blank (26:35). They're the top ranked team in the CCC, just ahead of No. 10 Eastern Oregon and No. 12 College of Idaho.
The Raider women made the biggest jump in the Top-25 Poll after turning in a top-5 average time of 22:32 for 6,000 meters at the Highlander Invitational. Alyssa Johnson led the charge by placing 22nd in a program record time of 21:05.8,. She was supported by sophomore transfer Sophia Stubblefield who ran 21:51.3 in her first 6K as a Raider. Freshmen Alaina Casady (22:43) and Emily Picard (23:18) were the third and fourth scorers and Ashley Jentzsch ran a personal best time of 23:41 to round out the scoring.
Stedman (23:47.9) and Weisgerber (23:49.4) have run the third and fifth fastest times for 8K in the NAIA this year, while Johnson (21:05.8) and Stubblefield (21:51.3) have run the fifth and 23rd fastest for 6K, respectively.
The Master's (Calif.) and Taylor (Ind.) remained the No. 1 teams for men and women, respectively.
On the women's side, College of Idaho was the top ranked CCC team at No. 5. Eastern Oregon was No. 16 and Lewis-Clark State No. 22.
For the men, Trinity Western (B.C.) dropped to No. 15 and Corban climbed back into the rankings at No. 20.
