ASHLAND – The defending-champion Southern Oregon women's wrestling team was picked second behind Providence (Mont.) in Thursday's CCC coaches' preseason poll.
The Raiders, now operating under first-year head coach
Katlyn Monroe, collected two first-place votes and the Argos picked up the other six.
Three All-Americans – sophomores
Lillian Gradillas-Flores (180 pounds) and
Kat Hingano (207), and senior
Jasmine Howard (117) – are back from last season's SOU team that placed seventh at the NAIA Championships.
Howard and Hingano were both conference champions, while Gradillas-Flores joined returners Quilatzli Miguel-Lapham (160) and
Malia Welch (124) as all-conference performers as the Raiders won their second CCC title in three years with four points more than Providence.
Monroe, who joined SOU via Alma College (Mich.), has 14 newcomers to go with the Raiders' 24 returning wrestlers. Among them is Alma transfer Mackenzie Burger, a national qualifier going into her junior season.
The NAIA preseason poll will be released Oct. 16. SOU starts the 2025-26 season Nov. 2 at the Menlo Open.
