DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – Led by champions Asher Ruchti and Kyle Sieminski, 10 of the Southern Oregon men's wrestling team's 16 participants at Life University's Lucha Open turned in top-eight finishes on Saturday.

The No. 2-ranked Ruchti captured the 197-pound title and Sieminski prevailed at 125 for the No. 7-ranked Raiders, who amassed 55 match victories as a team. Kolton Malone (149 pounds) and Adrian Chavez-Morales (184) placed third; Isaac Hampton (125), Avant Stepherson (157) and Cole Zoller (165) took fifth; Jackson Potts (174) and Sebastian Echeverria (285) were seventh; and Elias Corona (197) checked in at eighth place.

Ruchti, the senior All-American from Springfield, went 4-0 and protected his new ranking by defeating No. 5 Gio Jackson of Life (Ga.) by 7-4 sudden victory in the 197 final. He scored another Top 25 win in the quarterfinals, 5-4 against Life's No. 23 Anthony Lowe.

Sieminski – a redshirt-freshman from Springfield who entered the tournament unranked at 125 – knocked off No. 16 Riley Bettich of Cumberlands (Ky.) by 4-2 decision in his final. He outscored his four opponents 38-7 combined and started the run with a technical fall and major decision.

The No. 10-ranked Malone bounced back from a semifinal loss to No. 2 Victor Guzman of Cumberland (Tenn.) to run up a 17-1 technical fall against Jonathan Chang of Campbell (N.C.) in the 149 third-place match. He went 4-1 on the day, as did the No. 8-ranked Chavez-Morales in his third-place match at 184. His only blemish was a 7-3 semifinal loss to Life's No. 5 Tre Morrisette, and he ended his tourney with a 4-3 win against Jonathan Vanderbilt of Southeastern (Fla.).

Hampton, ranked No. 9 at 125, won five consecutive consolation matches after opening with a loss. Stepherson, ranked No. 19 at 157, went 5-1 with all bonus-point victories and Zoller was 4-1 at 165.

The Raiders are next in action Dec. 4 in Redding, Calif., with back-to-back duals against Simpson and San Francisco State.
