ASHLAND – After starting the Cascade Conference men's soccer slate with four goals in a pair of Southern Oregon wins,
Irwin Leon on Monday was voted the McDonald's CCC Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network.
Leon notched his first career hat trick in Friday's 4-1 drubbing of Evergreen (Wash.), untying the game by delivering all three goals within a span of 12 minutes early in the second half. He struck again by heading in his seventh goal of the season in Sunday's 3-1 win against Northwest (Wash.).
Leon, a graduate transfer from Moreno Valley, Calif., also went over the 20-goal mark for his collegiate career. He accumulated the first 15 of those over the previous three seasons at Corban, for which he was a two-time All-CCC performer.
He needed only six total shots to do his damage over the weekend. He ranks third among conference players in total goals and has scored six of them in his last four outings.
The Raiders, still unbeaten at 7-0-1 overall, are home again at 2:30 p.m. Friday to face rival Oregon Tech.
