ASHLAND – Entering the final weekend of the Cascade Conference regular season, the Southern Oregon women's soccer team knows it will be part of the CCC Tournament but has some work to do if it hopes to set itself up for another extended postseason.

Standing in fourth place – and with the possibility of moving as high as the No. 2 seed or as low as No. 7 – SOU (9-2-4 overall, 6-2-2 CCC) plays Walla Walla (Wash.) (0-10-1, 0-9-1) at noon Friday and Warner Pacific (5-5-3, 4-4-2) at 10:30 a.m. Sunday on Raider Stadium's Laurel Field. The Raiders are coming off a four-point weekend on the road that clinched a spot in the eight-team CCC playoffs, which begin Nov. 7 at Medford's Lithia & Driveway Fields. Following Sunday's game, they'll honor eight seniors who are attempting to deliver back-to-back NAIA Tournament berths for the first time in team history.

IN THE RANKINGS: The CCC had two teams in this week's NAIA National Selection Committee Top 25 poll: No. 16 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) and No. 20 College of Idaho. RMC (8-0-2 CCC) and C of I (8-2-0 CCC) – who are responsible for SOU's only defeats – are separated by two points in first and second place entering the weekend. As indicated by other metrics, the Raiders need to stack all the wins they can get to reach the 40-team NAIA National Tournament. They're likely on the outside looking in as of now, sitting at No. 41 in the national RPI and No. 6 in the West Region Area Ratings Committee poll. (When they received an at-large bid last year, they were No. 21 in the final RPI.) Collecting six points this weekend and advancing to their first-ever CCC Tournament final would provide a major boost, and if they win the tourney championship they'll get in automatically.

LAST WEEK IN REVIEW: Bushnell earned its first result against SOU in eight years last Friday with a 1-1 draw, leveling the score in the 83rd minute to neutralize Tori Lasch's 64th-minute goal. The Raiders bounced back the next day with a 3-2 win over Bushnell. They got another score from Lasch and additional help from Kaylah Bresee and Brycelin Endrikat, doing all their damage in the second half after Corban took a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute.

BRIEFLY:
  • The Raiders completed an unbeaten regular-season road slate for the first time in program history at 7-0-2. The best they'd previously done was last season, when they went 6-1 in road regular-season play.
  • Tori Lasch's two-goal weekend gave her nine on the season to go with two assists. The sophomore ranks third in the CCC in total goals and sixth in conference goals (4). With one more, she'd become the ninth player in team history to score 10 in a season and join teammates Brooklyn Hayes and Abby McKean in that group.
  • Brycelin Endrikat's scoring contribution last week was her ninth of the season. The North Medford product has seven assists – already the highest single-season total ever for a Raider freshman and tied for the fourth-highest among all SOU players. She is one assist off the CCC lead.
  • Hayes needs one more goal to reach 20 in her career, a milestone only seven Raiders have reached. McKean joined that club two weeks ago.
  • The Raiders are 2-2-1 at home this season. They're 32-10-5 at Raider Stadium since the start of the decade.

ABOUT WWU: In the program's second season of existence, the Wolves picked up their first result a couple weeks ago with a 2-2 tie at Evergreen. They've given up 37 goals and scored eight, getting four from Anacel Valenzuela-Acosta. SOU won the first-ever matchup last year, 7-0.

ABOUT WPU: Currently occupying the eighth and final playoff spot, the Knights are attempting to reach the CCC Tournament for the first time in program history and have already established a new team record for conference points in a season. They have a star goalkeeper to thank in junior newcomer Evelyn Montiel Silva, who is saving a CCC-best 87% of the shots she sees on frame. No one on the team has scored more than three goals, but sophomore Katya Tercek leads the way with seven points. SOU is 22-4-3 in the all-time series and has won the last 10 matchups in Ashland.
