SALEM — The No. 2-ranked Southern Oregon men's cross country team put three Raiders in the top-10 and was the leading NAIA squad in the 51st Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday morning at Bush's Pasture Park.

With 131 points, the Raiders placed third overall of 23 teams, finishing behind first-place Portland (46) and second-place Nevada (60). They edged No. 4 College of Idaho by a single point.

Mason Weisgerber led the effort, placing second and completing the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes 11.3 seconds. Carter Stedman finished moments later in fourth place (24:12.8) and Andrew Rush wasn't far behind, placing ninth in an SOU all-time No. 5 finish of 24:18.5.

The trio were only 28th, 30th, and 47th, respectively, at the mile split, while SOU as a team sat in ninth. Just over one mile later, Weisgerber moved up to 19th, Stedman to 21st and Rush to 25th as SOU moved to fifth. The Raiders were the sole team to put three runners in the top-10.

Sophomore Josh Hepner placed 28th in 24:55.6 and Logan Huffman (26:37.7) rounded out the scoring, finishing 133rd.

Alyssa Johnson placed 12th in 17:54.6 to help the women's team finish 11th in the 5,000-meter race. The senior from Veneta was just 10 seconds shy of a personal best in her final cross country 5K as a Raider.

Emily Picard placed 56th in a lifetime best of 18:46.5, a 66-second improvement over her finish at last year's Charles Bowles Invite. Freshman Ellieana Massey was 82nd in 19:08.9 and senior Mercedes Harms finished 146th in 20:17.6. Southern Oregon's fifth scorer, Ashley Jentzsch (20:32.3), came in 154th.

Nevada's Austin Key won the men's race in 23:59.1 and Portland's Latham West (16:35.1) won the 5K.
