Carson Le Bel and
Carter Stedman on Monday were voted McDonald's Cascade Conference Athletes of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network.
Davies, a sophomore from Burns, picked up the Pitcher of the Week award after starting 3-0 on the top-ranked Raiders' season-opening trip. The reigning NAIA Pitcher of the Year posted a 1.40 ERA across 20 innings over the weekend, recording 21 strikeouts in three consecutive complete games. She also delivered the 20th shutout of her young career in a three-hitter at No. 21 Hope International (Calif.).
Le Bel, a three-time All-American pole vaulter from Central Point, got the Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award after posting the second-best mark in the NAIA at Nevada's Wolf Pack Classic. He went 16 feet ¾ inches to clear the automatic-qualifying standard for the NAIA Indoor Championships, placed third out of nine vaulters at the meet, and established a new SOU indoor record in the event.
Stedman – a junior from Roseburg making his SOU track debut after becoming an All-American for the Raider cross country team this fall – won his mile heat and placed sixth out of 41 overall at the same meet, finishing only behind NCAA Division I runners. His time of 4 minutes 16.72 seconds made him a provisional national qualifier and currently ranks 14th on the NAIA performance list. He was voted the CCC's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
